About Us
Meet Prof Mauro
Prof Mauro Farella is a leading expert in the management of misaligned teeth and/or jaws in children and adults. He is widely experienced with all sorts of braces and invisible plates such as clear aligners (e.g., Invisalign, etc). His treatments are individually tailored to achieve beautiful, but also healthy smiles. He is a board-certified specialist and a registered orthodontist in New Zealand, with thirty-year of clinical experience.
Professor Farella is an internationally recognised and widely experienced clinician, who also works at the University of Otago as the Head of Orthodontics at the Dental School in Dunedin. He is also an active researcher, always keeping up to date with latest technological advancements, and finding new solutions to improve patients’ experience and quality of life. He is a member of several professional societies including the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists, the New Zealand Dental Association, and the European Orthodontic Society. He is regularly invited as speaker at national and international congresses, to share his knowledge and clinical expertise.
Mauro is originally from Italy and moved to New Zealand in 2009. From his home country he proudly retains his creativity and attention to detail. He always strives to achieve clinical excellence and to deliver world-class high-quality service to his patients and students. Outside of work, Mauro enjoys photography, gardening, cooking, travelling, fishing, and spending quality time with friends, his two energetic boys Marco and Terence, and his lovely wife Carmen.
Meet Vita
Vita worked as a qualified, senior dental assistant in private dentistry for many years before making the move to Farella Orthodontics. With her friendly and caring nature she enjoys providing a high standard of care and will always greet you with a smile. Vita is a proud mother to two young children and enjoys spending time with them and her husband riding their bikes, walking their two dogs and camping in the holidays.
Meet Ravy
Ravy is a final year Oral Health student at the dental school. She is Cambodian born in New Zealand and can speak both English and Khmer. After having braces as a teenager, Ravy developed an interest in dentistry/orthodontics, which led her to Dunedin in 2019. Ravy enjoys meeting new patients and supporting them throughout their orthodontic journey to achieve their beautiful and healthy smile. Outside of study and orthodontics, she enjoys watching movies with her sister, drawing, and spending time with friends and family. Ravy will start working at Farella Orthodontics soon.
